The operation of the knotty eel is...
We are seeing a steady stream of catches of the "Kubire Eel 4" which is scheduled for release this fall.
Lately I've been fishing mainly with free rigs.
It is best used in areas with varying heights of weeds and on hard bottoms with not too much weed growing.
In the weed area, I let the line hang loose and let the rod flick to let it free fall. I deliberately use a rough action.
By giving the lure plenty of slack in the line, it will fall easily without pulling on the weeds.
Next is the hard bottom.
Once it hits the bottom, it's a solid stop.
Since the fish is in full view of the bus, its action is delicate.
The idea is to drag it in 1 to 5 cm increments.
Due to the diamond-shaped tail of the red-eared eel, even just dragging it around will cause the tail to twist and roll to one side.
The added spontaneous action of falling down and rolling is a nice touch.
When you come into contact with something, immediately relax and pose.
The key here is to keep the line loose.
Release the clutch, release the lint, flick off the slack and it will slide over.
Once you get through it, pose again.
Hiding from the bus, trying not to be seen...
Just when you think it's getting close, it moves a little, and its tail wobbles, causing it to gobble up.
That's the image I have in mind when using it.
