Autumn Osaka Bay Shore Jigging Report

Autumn Osaka Bay Shore Jigging Report

I'm Takimoto, a member of the Galápagos staff.

I will write about the trends and patterns of shore jigging in Osaka Port this autumn, including the conditions of a recent shore jigging location shoot.

*Please tune in to the Lua Rua Channel on December 1st to see what happened on this day!

From around the autumnal equinox in September, the peak season for shore jigging to catch bluefish begins at the offshore breakwaters and fishing parks of Osaka Port, and I go fishing almost every week.

Around this time, the water temperature starts to drop and the bait, anchovies, come close to the shore, along with small mackerel, sardines, and anchovies.

This year, the main bait, anchovies, are small, around 4 to 5 cm in size, and overall, catches have been more successful using small metal jigs and metal vibes.

The bluefish situation is better than usual, with many Spanish mackerel of about 50cm in size being caught, along with a few Spanish mackerel, Japanese amberjack, and yellowtail. It will be exciting to see how the water temperature will change as it drops.

For this location shoot, we are focusing on metal jigs.

In the morning when the fish are most active, use a metal vibe to move sideways to target fish floating in the surface to mid-layer.

If there was no response, I would change to a metal jig and start using a match-the-bait strategy, hitting the bottom to middle layer with a vertical action.

Now, the tackle I used this time was

rod: Gá ShoreJig Stick 96MH

This model is extremely lightweight and easy to use, and can handle a wide range of lures from 20g to 80g.

It can be used in any situation, from offshore breakwaters to rock shores and surf.

This class of bat power is particularly advantageous when fighting with large numbers of bluefish during the peak season, or in situations where you don't want the fish to run away from you on rocky shores or in areas with tetrapods, so we recommend this rod.

First thing in the morning, I used an appealing Gá Shore Metal Vibe to check for active fish by moving it sideways from the surface to the middle layers, but there was no reaction, so I then switched to a metal jig.

The perfect bait is the shore metal jig!

When they are only feeding on small bait, size is also important, and the small silhouette of a shore metal jig is effective for the small anchovy pattern in autumn and spring!

The unique center-balanced shape of the jig makes it easy to turn sideways after jerking, and the rolling fall and feeding pause give the impression of a weakened bait, making it easy to handle with little jerking resistance or tailing.

On this day, both the Japanese white-eye and Spanish mackerel were feeding on small anchovies, and we caught a series of 40g fish!

Perfectly matches the bait pattern as a curveball

During times of high activity, they also respond to the Gá Metal Vibe 40g.

The Shore Metal Vibe is a metal vibe for bluefish that is compatible with shore jigging rods equipped with thick trebles!

This is a highly recommended metal vibration lure that has excellent casting distance, low pulling resistance, and has been developed with particular attention to its underwater posture!

I feel that the fine vibrations of metal vibes are particularly effective when anchovies are the bait.

Come and enjoy the shore bluefish season at its peak!
