Okra in Autumn
This is Shikanai from Galápagos!
When you put OKURA STICK2 into the deep of autumn...
It will be eaten by fish in good condition, such as carp and lotus root.
The rig is a simple heavy carolina.
The basic action is one jerk followed by a pause of 5 to 8 seconds.
The idea is to make the bait dart with a quick jerk that flicks the slack, and then let it fall horizontally to get the bait to bite.
I vary the strength of the jerk depending on the day.
I was able to confirm with the LiveScope that the worm was floating firmly even with just one jerk.
The timing of the bite is during the fall or immediately after the jerk.
Most of the time, the bait is pulled with incredible force, so in order to have some leeway when hooking, I make sure to leave enough line between the water surface and the tip of the rod.
Also, if you pull it smoothly while there is tension, the sinker will get caught in the structure, so a sharp action is a must.
My current favorite hooks are Gamakatsu Theorize WG-H #1 to #1/0, which do not stretch even when fighting with line of 20 lb or more.
The sinker is 14-18g, the line is at least 20lb, and the leader length is 80-100cm.
Amazingly, this type of fishing produces big fish once they are hooked, and it is also effective when the bait is small, such as rockfish or crustaceans.
Be sure to try out the "OKURA STICK2" for your deep fishing which is about to get serious!
